Shi Yong, A Bunch of Happy Fantasies (install view), 2009, neon lights, acrylic stands, 500 x 500 cm
White Rabbit’s ruling philosophy is that art should belong to all. We also believe great art has something to teach everyone, from children to adults, from art experts to the merely curious. Entry to the White Rabbit Gallery is free.
The White Rabbit Collection is one of the world’s largest and most significant collections of contemporary Chinese art. Founded by Judith Neilson, it focuses on works produced after 2000. The White Rabbit Gallery shows works drawn from the collection in its curated exhibitions. The gallery presents two exhibitions each year, and the gallery is closed for the duration of the installation, usually for 4–5 weeks in February/March and again in August.
The White Rabbit Gallery is open from Wednesday to Sunday inclusive, 10am to 5pm.
THE GALLERY WILL BE CLOSED ON FRIDAY 19 APRIL (GOOD FRIDAY) AND THURSDAY 25 APRIL (ANZAC DAY) 2019.
The gallery is closed twice a year as we install our new exhibitions, usually in February and August each year. Please contact the gallery around those months to confirm our
opening times and dates.
GROUP VISITS: Unfortunately, the age, size, and limited facilities of our building mean that White Rabbit cannot accommodate group visits or booked tours. Please see a letter from our Founder and Director, Judith Neilson, regarding group visits here.
GUIDED TOURS: We continue to offer regular guided public tours, at 11am, 1pm and 3pm each day. To join one of these tours, come to the Reception desk five minutes before the set time. Private groups are not able to join these public tours. And our floor staff are always on hand to share their fund of knowledge with visitors who want more information on the artworks and artists, and on Chinese contemporary art in general. Please contact the gallery for further information if necessary – email firstname.lastname@example.org
White Rabbit’s Library, located on the third floor of the Gallery, is a storehouse of information on Chinese contemporary art and artists. It contains exhibition catalogues, artist biographies, art histories, surveys of Chinese contemporary art, and a variety of periodicals, most either in English or including English translations. The library is open on Sundays, or at other times by appointment – email email@example.com
For those undertaking scholarly research on Chinese art and artists, the Research Library at Dangrove is open by appointment on Mondays and Tuesdays – see the information under the Dangrove section of this website.
